Microsoft Ignite 2024
For many years I have looked to Ignite to see the latest and greatest and decide what I would try to bring to my organization next. Over the past few years I have been immersed in Microsoft security products such as Sentinel and Defender and have even had the privilege to see some upcoming features in private preview prior to release.
Attending digitally I left feeling there wasn't that usual excitement of the "next" thing coming. I don't think this is a bad thing though, many of us in IT have been in the trenches and know how busy working for an individual organization can be. You might go a year barely seeing what's new in the Windows release this year.
This is probably why it's called Ignite, this is Microsoft igniting their customers to implement the latest.
What I learned at Ignite
While generally most of what I saw was familiar to me there were a few items I noticed which caught my eye.
What you should have noticed at Ignite
If you maybe aren't as up to date on the latest from Microsoft I would highly recommend taking a look at these items:
- Exposure Management
- Initiatives
- Windows Security
- Other items
Keep in mind I focus on security, other announcements caught my eye as a tech enthusiast but are not really in my wheelhouse to discuss.
Would I attend next year?
I will always attend a free digital event if my schedule allows and will hopefully be attending in person at some point as well! While all the sessions I could view digitally contained little content that was new to me a fair bit of sessions I was interested in attending were not available digitally. I believe these would have contained more useful and tangible content I could gain experience with.
